The company was founded in 1999 as part of Danske Bank, and was named Danica Pension. We developed our own IT system right from the outset, primarily to support insurance brokers and their growing business.

• 1999 : Founded as part of Danske Bank.

• 2001 : Started developing our own IT system.

• 2001 : We were the first pension company in Sweden to offer unlimited right to transfer.

In the 2000s, we established ourselves in the market and launched many new products. We also became eligible to be chosen as a provider in all areas of collective bargaining.

• 2005 : Launched direct pension schemes.

• 2007 : Introduced deposit insurance, resulting in more partnerships.

• 2008 : Entered into our first white label partnership.

• 2010 : Became eligible as an occupational pension provider in all areas of collective bargaining.

In the 2010s, we expanded and began connecting directly with our partners through efficient APIs. Growth was strong and our premium volume increased by 330 percent.

• 2012 : We focused on developing our platform, giving us the opportunity for even more partnerships.

• 2015 : We introduced a sustainability screened range of funds.

• 2016 : We increased our level of digitization and offered more APIs to enable quick connection to our platform.

• 2012-2018 : Our premium volume increased from SEK 6 billion in 2012 to SEK 20 billion in 2018.

When we changed ownership and were renamed Futur Pension in 2019, we gained increased momentum with many new partners and faster IT development.

• 2019 : Change of ownership enabled us to further increase our customer focus.

• 2020 : Partnerships entered into with several new partners, e.g. fully digital savings solutions.

• 2020 : We developed a sustainability-oriented range of funds.

• 2021 : Further investment in IT, rapid growth in all product areas.

Growth remains strong and we have established ourselves as one of the largest pension companies in Sweden. We set a new record in premium income in 2021, and in 2022 became the largest pension company in terms of premiums. We will launch the ‘new Futur’ in 2023.

• 2021 : We broke our premium income record by SEK 45 billion, which we see as proof of having gained our customers’ trust.

• 2022 : We became Sweden's largest pension company in terms of premiums.

• 2023 and beyond : We have changed our name to Futur to emphasise that we are a platform for both savings and retirement. Our record-breaking investments will give more customers access to better savings.
